Splitting Email Journals

Achieve a clean and defensible break for your legacy email records

In the event of a demerger or other organizational split, the requirement can arise to separate out the contents of an email journal into the respective new entities, or be selective in what gets moved to a new platform.

Achieving this can be a challenge owing to the fact that only one instance of an email for each set of custodians will exist in the journal or journal archive.

Using TransVault’s analysis and migration tools, you can:

  • Analyze email journal messages to make informed decisions on what data belongs to which business entity
  • Split email journals between multiple destinations based on a number of criteria, including
    • emails sent/received by staff members belonging to each business unit/entity
    • emails sent/received by customers belonging to each business unit/entity
  • Protect meta data during migration to reduce the risk of legacy data being excluded from future eDiscovery
  • Ensure compliance by respecting corporate retention policies and retaining full chain-of-custody and data integrity

It’s never been quicker or easier to separate email journals during demergers or divestitures. Get in touch for more details on how TransVault can help make your break-up pain-free.

High-performance, big data handling

TransVault allows large journal archives to be split into a number of separately handled virtual mailboxes.

This allows multiple processing threads to be applied to the migration of a single mailbox, significantly speeding up the migration task.

Targeted migrations

When you migrate to a new platform, you may decide to move your journal archive to a different location from your mailbox archives. For example, into a cloud-based service such as Mimecast.

TransVault gives you the power to direct different data streams to different locations as desired.

Preservation of BCC & DL recipients

Also known as envelope data, different archive platforms store this information in different and very proprietary ways.

TransVault ensures this data is properly captured, preserved and re-constructed in the right format for your chosen new platform.

This ensures this vital information is fully protected and available to ensure the accuracy of any future eDiscovery.

Full Chain-of-custody

Each journal entry moved is fully audited and transferred in 1-step from source to target.  This means there’s no opportunity for tampering, human error or intermediate storage corruptions that could again compromise the validity and completeness of any future eDiscovery results.
