Team Spotlight – Shaun Greenfield’s Journey into Sales

To celebrate the individuals behind our success we are continuing the team spotlight series the series with Shaun whose career has taken him from banking to technology and into the heart of sales and account management.
With a natural curiosity for people and problem solving Shaun brings energy authenticity and enthusiasm to everything he does.
Shaun didn’t always plan to work in sales.
“I didn’t set out thinking ‘sales is where I’ll end up’” he says. “I actually wanted to be an architect but after some parental advice I started my career at Barclays Bank, and I quickly realised that I love the people part of the job, understanding what challenges and opportunities customers were facing and finding ways to solve them. That curiosity on relationships naturally pulled me into sales and account management.”
Having worked across several challenging industries and led high performing teams, Shaun eventually felt ready for a new challenge. “After spending years leading and developing great teams, I wanted to get back to the coal face of sales in a new sector for me, “ he explains. “I wanted to push myself again and reconnect with the part of the job I always loved, working directly with customers.”
When asked what inspired him to pursue sales and account management Shaun reflects on the mentors who shaped his outlook. “I’ve had a few mentors along the way, and what I learned from them is that sales isn’t about pushing products, it’s about building genuine relationships and helping people achieve their goals. Watching others succeed by being authentic made me want to follow the same path.”
At Transvault, it’s the people and the culture that keeps him motivated
“The energy of the team is fantastic” he says.” Everyone here genuinely cares about doing the right thing for our customers and partners, and that makes it exciting to come to work. Transvault also has a unique space in the industry, we solve real complex problems and make a huge impact for clients.
Honesty, curiosity, and collaboration, are the values that guide Shaun’s approach. “In account management those values aren’t just ‘nice to haves’ they are essential,” he explains. “I get to build trust with partners, dig into their challenges, and work alongside the team to deliver results.”
Since joining Transvault Shaun says he’s learned just how powerful collaboration can be.
“Everyone here is so willing to share knowledge and support each other which creates a culture where you can grow quickly,” he shares. “I’ve also picked up a lot more about the intricacies of compliance and data migration than I ever expected.”
When it comes to daily life variety is what keeps things interesting. “I like variety and spontaneity, so I don’t really have a typical day” he says with a smile. “That’s what makes the job enjoyable every day brings something new.”
Looking ahead, Shaun is optimistic about what’s to come.
“The pace of change in our industry is incredible” he says. “Compliance, cloud, and data management, are becoming more important every day, and we’re in a great position to evolve and lead. I’m excited about how our team will continue to grow innovate and strengthen partnerships.”
His advice for those starting up in sales or account management?
“Listen first. The more you understand your customers challenges, the easier it is to add value. Sales isn’t about having all the answers straight away; it’s about asking the right questions being genuine and building trust at last.”
Outside of work, Shaun enjoys time with the family and friends, especially around the barbecue in the summer. “You can’t beat a good BBQ” he laughs. “My wife and daughter both keep me busy with their DIY list, and after 40 years of playing and coaching football, I now enjoy watching from the sidelines.”
