Team Spotlight – Anthony Way’s Journey Into Sales
At Transvault, every career journey is different, and that’s exactly what makes our team so interesting. This time, we’re shining the spotlight on one of our sales team members, Anthony, whose path from classical music to helping organisations navigate complex technology change proves that careers rarely follow a straight line.
From Classical Music to Customer Success
Originally from London, Anthony spent time living in different parts of the UK before eventually settling on the South Coast in Chichester.
“My background was predominantly in classical music,” he explains. “But over time, other interests gradually pulled me away from life as a musician and towards where I am today.”
That willingness to embrace change and explore new opportunities would eventually lead him into a career he hadn’t originally planned for.
Finding an Unexpected Route into Sales
Sales wasn’t part of the original plan. “I never had any aspirations to get into sales; it’s something I fell into through a love of motorbikes, and I’m glad I did.”
Although it began unexpectedly, sales soon felt like a natural fit. “I’ve always enjoyed a good challenge and building relationships, so sales has always suited me.”
When reflecting on the path that brought him here, there’s no single defining moment that stands above the rest. “I’m a big believer that every decision plays a part in why you are where you are.”
Helping Customers Navigate Change
One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Transvault is the opportunity to help customers through important technology transitions. “There’s a real sense of satisfaction in working through challenges and helping customers find solutions that deliver genuine benefits to their organisation.”
But it’s not just the work itself that stands out. “It’s also the people. We’re lucky to have some brilliant people at Transvault, and we work alongside some incredible partners too. It’s a pleasure working with both every day.”
Built on Relationships and Problem Solving
The role aligns closely with the values that matter most. “It’s built around trust, partnership and problem-solving. I enjoy understanding what people are trying to achieve and helping create a path to get there.”
That balance between building relationships and delivering results is one of the things Anthony enjoys most about the role. Working in technology has also given him plenty of opportunities to learn. “I certainly wouldn’t consider myself a technical person, but being at Transvault you can’t help but pick up some of the more technical aspects of archiving and data management along the way.”
What the Role Actually Looks Like
Like many roles in sales, no two days look exactly the same. Working closely with customers in the United States means many conversations and meetings take place later in the day, leaving mornings free for research, preparation and other supporting activities. “It’s also important to step away from the desk occasionally. Getting outside for a break is one of the best ways to clear your head and reset.”
Excited by What Comes Next
What excites him most about the future is the pace of change. “Technology moves incredibly quickly and is constantly creating new opportunities and challenges.”
For Anthony, Transvault occupies an exciting position within that landscape. “We combine years of knowledge and expertise with a real desire to stay at the forefront of the industry, and that’s a great place to be.”
And if he could offer one piece of advice to anyone considering a career in sales?
“Be curious. You can never ask too many questions.”
Life Outside of Work
When he’s not working with customers, you’ll most likely find him outdoors.
“Whether it’s riding trials bikes with friends, BMXing with my son, or heading for a run up the Trundle and around the South Downs, nothing clears the mind quite like getting outside.”
For someone who enjoys challenges, problem-solving and building relationships, it seems like the perfect way to recharge for whatever comes next.
