From Sienna to Ally: Celebrating 20 Years of Transvault

A data centre filled with green and white balloons.

Transvault was born from a real challenge: enterprises needed a way to move critical data safely and compliantly during technology change. Back in 2006, as email and digital communication exploded, there was no reliable way to migrate archived email without losing context, metadata or audit integrity. That problem became our purpose.

2006: The Birth of a Solution

In Clevedon, UK, our founders, then part of Essential Computing, built a tool to solve a pressing client need: a seamless, compliant migration from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange. Project Sienna was born, and soon evolved into the first version of Transvault Migrator.

Growing with the Market

What started as a bespoke fix quickly became a specialist product. Transvault focused on compliance, traceability and security, critical for regulated industries. As cloud adoption accelerated, we were early to support hybrid and cloud migrations, recognising where enterprise IT was heading.

We grew through a trusted global partner network, built on results rather than hype.

Two Decades, Global Impact

Over twenty years, Transvault has migrated archives across more than 50 countries, helping organisations preserve their data with confidence while navigating complex technology transitions.

From Migration to Modern Governance

Today, that experience powers our next chapter, helping organisations adopt Generative AI and modern platforms with compliant governance built in. Our innovations are driven by the same principle that shaped our first product: solve real problems with technology you can trust.

Twenty years on, one thing hasn’t changed: we deliver the right outcome, with integrity, every time.
