Team Spotlight – Annie Balazs Journey into Engineering

At Tranvault, we’re passionate about what we do, but that passion is only possible because of the people who make up our team. To celebrate the individuals behind our success, we’re continuing our series of introductions to highlight their journeys, experiences, and contributions.

In this edition, we are introducing Annie, whose journey from Hungary to the UK has been one of exploration, learning, and growth. With a background that began far from technology, Annie’s path into engineering is a story of curiosity, adaptability, and a drive to keep learning.

From Medicine to Engineering

“I’m from Hungary, and when I was a student, my aspirations for the future were very different from the work I do today” Annie shares. “From an early age, I wanted to become a doctor, the idea of helping people and saving lives felt truly inspiring.”

Although that value of helping others remained important, her time studying medicine revealed that it wasn’t the right fit. “I realised during anatomy classes that the practical side of the job wasn’t for me” she says. “That experience made me rethink my path.”

Reflecting on what she truly enjoyed, she rediscovered her love for Mathematics and Physics and the sense of satisfaction that came from solving complex problems. “That’s what eventually led me to programming” she explains. “It’s full of problem solving and creativity, with endless possibilities for growth and discovery.”

Pivotal Moments

Annie’s first professional experience came in Budapest, working at a large international software company. “I gained valuable experience across variety of projects” she recalls. “English quickly became my main working language, and I really enjoyed collaborating with colleagues from different countries and cultures.”

When her family later moved to the UK the decision to join them felt like a natural next step opening new opportunities for personal and professional growth.

During her education all of Annie’s computer science teachers happened to be women, something that left a lasting impression. “Seeing their example made me realise that this could also be the right path for me” she says.

Life at Transvault

At Transvault, Annie values the company’s culture of learning and support. “There are always opportunities to grow here that’s something I value highly” she explains. “I enjoy challenges and within such a friendly and supportive team I feel that nothing is impossible. Everyone contributes something unique and we work together smoothly towards common goals.”

Order and structure play an important role in both her personal and professional life. “I take pride in writing clean maintainable code and designing logically organised project structures” she says. “It’s satisfying when everything fits together neatly.”

Since joining Transvault Annie feels she learns something new every day. “A couple of recent examples would be deepening my understanding of Microsoft Azure pipelines and gaining more experience with Amazon Web Services S3 storage solutions” she shares.

A day in Annie’s Life

Her days start early with a good coffee to set the positive tone. “It’s my favourite moment of the morning” she smiles. She usually takes a lunchtime walk to clear her mind and stay focused. “It helps me recharge and is a great way to stay healthy.”

Like many in the industry and she is curious about the future of AI. “I feel both excited and a little uncertain about the impact of AI on our industry” she admits. “But I choose to stay optimistic and believe it will ultimately empower people and help make the world a better place.”

Her advice to those starting out in engineering.

“Don’t give up, engineering is such a broad field that there’s always an area where you can thrive and find real fulfilment. Keep exploring until you find what excites you most.”

When she’s not coding, she enjoys spending time outdoors especially kayaking. “I have many fond memories of summer kayaking camps from my childhood” she says. “It’s calming, relaxing and the perfect way to unwind and feel close to nature.”

We are proud to have Annie as part of Transvault team. Her curiosity, creativity and commitment to continuous learning reflect the spirit of innovation that drives us forward.
