Location: Hybrid – (Within 30-minute commute of Clevedon, UK)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Head of Finance is a key member of the Leadership Team who proactively works with departmental managers, governs relevant third-party service provider relationships, and contributes to the overall leadership of the business. They govern and report on the finances of the business and ensure that all legal and commercial obligations are met, empowering the Board to make informed decisions. The Head of Finance innovates to enhance our finance systems, capabilities and processes to ensure they are efficient, effective and fit for the future.
At a high level, the Head of Finance is accountable and responsible for:
- Providing financial stewardship, and decisive leadership of the finance function
- Consistently demonstrating commercial awareness
- Managing partner and customer financial relationships to ensure a tightly controlled working capital cycle
- Overseeing legal and insurance reviews to ensure that there are sufficient provisions
- Management of relevant external business relationships
- Ensuring the timely and accurate production of monthly reports
- Maintaining a continuous improvement philosophy of financial management
- Working with the Board to ensure Transvault has a fit for purpose accounting information and reporting system that is able to meet the business’ needs
- Assume ownership of, and present to the Board, all key finance matters whilst acting as a financial conduit between all areas of the business
- Maintaining oversight, communication and proactive management of pricing, costs, overheads, sales commissions and supplier payments and rebates
- Ownership of lending relationships, cash management, corporation tax, VAT, FX and Treasury management, and all financing
- Ownership of pension plan provisions, private medical provisions and all insurance policies
- Financial management to accurately represent recognised revenue
- Commercial and legal contract review, highlighting and mitigating commercial risks

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Strategic financial leadership:
- Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy, aligning it with the overall business objectives and long-term growth plans.
- Provide leadership and direction to the finance department, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Partner with the CEO and Leadership Team to provide financial insights and recommendations for business strategy, new market expansion, and product development.
- Provide challenge and support to the CEO to continually improve the company’s financial position
Financial planning and analysis:
- Lead the annual budget review and planning process
- Undertake quarterly reforecasting with the department managers, discussing anomalies with the CEO for approval
- Regularly perform financial modelling to support decision making and operational efficiency
- Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying areas for cost optimisation, revenue growth and risk mitigation
- Produce detailed financial reports and presentations for the Board, explaining key metrics and variances
Financial operations and compliance:
- Raise all bank payments, ensuring that all payments are made in a timely way
- Generate monthly management accounts
- Generate all required journals
- Calculate and post journals of deferrals and accruals
- Maintain business compliance with all relevant financial and corporate requirements
- Provide daily services to the business which enable fluid processing of orders
- Provide validated commission values in a timely way each month for payroll processing
- Optimise business finances in a multi-currency trading environment
- Assess and support changes which benefit the business when trading globally
- FX and Treasury management
- Maintain pension scheme payments and compliance
- Maintain private medical scheme payments and compliance
- Financial services relating to onboarding and offboarding suppliers and staff
Risk management and corporate governance:
- Proactively assess and maintain appropriate insurance cover for the business needs
o Proactively contribute to the legal assessment of business operations and contracts - Financial systems and process improvement
- Collaborate with all relevant departments to provide systems and processes which create frictionless revenue generation
- Continually improve financial systems and processes, demonstrating an awareness of available knowledge and technology
Lead and manage external service providers:
- Create and maintain a beneficial relationship with banking providers
- Utilise accounting services where relevant and cost effective
- Maintain an appropriate policy for insurance
- Ensure consistent awareness of changing standards and legislation which could affect the business
Outputs & Deliverables
- Regular reporting as agreed with the CEO
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial processes and statements in compliance with UK GAAP
- Payroll, commissions and expenses payments
- Annual P60 and P11D submissions
- Compliant and up to date pension scheme
- Compliant and up to date private medical scheme
- Positive and constructive accounting relationship, providing appropriate accountancy services
- Positive and constructive banking relationship, providing appropriate banking services
- Positive and constructive insurance relationship, providing appropriate insurance cover
- Positive and constructive legal relationship, providing appropriate legal review of business operations and contracts

Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified Finance Professional (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with demonstrable commercial experience, including at senior level, successfully setting and executing financial strategy.
- Evidence of making a demonstrable contribution to the overall management and development of a business, including sound financial control.
- Financial skills to help produce and challenge staged investment justification, and measure ROI at each stage of delivery.
- A leader of people, able to motivate and align their team (internal and external) to a common objective.
- Focused, resilient and possessing a positive “can do” attitude, with a willingness to make a real difference and commitment to achieving our Vision and Mission.
