Announcing TransVaultā„¢ Version 3.1

Bristol, UK, 14th February 2008. UK messaging expert Essential Computing has today announced its latest release of TransVault, an application designed to migrate archived email and other data types between different locations and platforms.

Version 3.1 of TransVault introduces support for additional archive formats and storage devices as well as the ability to re-write email addresses to reflect a move into a new domain.

According to Barney Haye, Business Development Director at Essential, “TransVault is enabling organizations to cope with a myriad of scenarios that can occur during the lifecycle of archived emails.  This includes staff relocations, archive consolidations, a move to an alternative archive system following a merger, or a switch to hosted archiving services.”

TransVault allows emails to be quickly and incisively exported, migrated, and optionally converted, ensuring they are fully discoverable and functional for end users in a new archive environment, be it based on the same archive solution or a new archive service.

“For example, when a customer recently sold off a subsidiary, TransVault enabled them to migrate all relevant emails directly into the new owner’s archive service, whilst avoiding taking data that belonged to other parts of the organization.  It also ensured that historic emails could be successfully replied to despite the new addressing scheme”, continued Haye.

The TransVault application includes full auditing of any data movement, ensuring chain-of-custody is not lost.  “This is important for compliance-led archiving situations”, explained Haye. “Migration to a new email or archiving service is no excuse for data loss and will be viewed poorly in a court of law. TransVault provides the best content integrity available in the industry, maintaining full audit logs,” concluded Haye.

New supported storage formats include Symantec Enterprise Vault cabinet files and the EMC Centera content-addressed storage solution.  The next release due out shortly will support for the IXOS-eCONserver archive and other archive platforms are being added all the time.
